Places to stay in Port de Sóller

This maritime village is a great example of Mallorca’s intricately preserved cultural heritage, for which thousands flock to the island year in, year out. Sitting in a natural bay, it is a popular destination for the yachting population of the island who often choose to dock here. Port de Soller once occupied an important defensive position on Majorca; it was from here that fleets of pirates from Turkey and Algeria would threaten to invade, eventually landing on the beach of Port de Sóller in 1561. Many holidaymakers are attracted to the port town when booking a short stay apartment due to the fact that unlike some coastal towns on the island, it was carefully protected from being over-saturated by the effects of tourism. For this reason, it has maintained a wonderful sense of its original character.
