  • What to look out for when choosing a holiday rental

  • Whenever we start planning a holiday, one of the first things we have to start thinking about is accommodation. Do you stay in a hotel, hostel, camping or rent a holiday apartment? Depending on what type of trip you’re looking for, you may prefer to stay in a holiday rental with a group of friends, your loved one or your family.

There are so many different apartments and homes to choose from, it’s hard to know where to begin. Today we’ve prepared some tips for choosing your ideal holiday rental.

    Does it have Air Con/Heating?

    air conditioning

It may seem like a simple thing, but some old houses aren’t equipped with heating. In the same way that air con is more of a luxury than a priority in some places, however if you’re travelling in August maybe think twice about getting it.

Check reviews for your travel month

When checking reviews for an apartment it’s common to read the most recent ones without bothering to check further back. However there may be problems which only occur in certain months of the year, such as finding hot water in the winter or noisy streets during the summertime. Try to check the reviews from the month in which you’re actually staying for a more accurate review.

    Use comparison websites

Many holiday rentals are listed on multiple websites and often at different prices. To make sure you get the best price without being ripped off you can try a holiday rental comparison website such as Hundredrooms.

Does the building have an elevator?

    holiday rental lift

It may seem unnecessary not to have a lift when on holiday for a few days, but if your apartment is on the 5th floor without a life, it can be difficult climbing up the stairs with your shopping on a hot summers day. Especially with children and older people, check if there’s a lift.

    Check for Pets

Are you a cat or a dog person? Do you love cuddling furry friends or do wince at the thought of them in your holiday home? Beware to check for pets as sometimes flats can be a little dirtier, smellier or noisier depending on the type of animal.
