  • A Benidorm Renaissance: 6 reasons to visit

  • Mention the popular Spanish summer destination of Benidorm, and you might conjure up images of high rise apartment blocks, being drunk and disorderly and perhaps the holidaymakers of the eponymous TV series. There is much to be said for this fading reputation, as the popular Costa Blanca town offers far more beyond its package holiday hub. We’re here to show you a selection of the most charming Benidorm holiday apartments for your trip, alongside the sleepy charm of the fishing town and Benidorm Old Town, enjoying great cuisine and drink while you soak in its stunning natural landscape that cushions it either side.

    1. Sierra Helada National Park

Translating to ‘frozen mountain’, this natural park is the stunning backdrop to Benidorm’s Manhattan-esque skyline. An ancient natural wonder with fossilised treasures and is the perfect antidote for nature lovers visiting Benidorm. No matter your level of hiking or physical ability, you will find that this is the perfect day trip close to the city, providing you remember your sunscreen and plenty of water!

    2-bedroom apartment with sea views

Only nine minutes’ walk from the beach, this bedroom apartment in Benidorm enjoys a sea view terrace and a stunning view over the skyline. You will have access to the swimming pool, fitness centre and a kitchenette.

    2. Mirador del Castillo

Once violently besieged by Ottoman Turks and Moors, there is a whole history to be reaped from Benidorm Old Town. It has much shared history with that of the Balearic Islands that also experienced similar invasions for a few centuries. This gorgeous azure and whitewashed viewpoint is one of the remaining historical reminders of this period, and simultaneously provides a jaw-dropping gaze across the aquamarine Mediterranean from Benidorm’s oldest part of the city.

    3. Calle Santo Domingo in Benidorm Old Town

Benidorm, a former fishing village, still retains a wonderful cuisine in its Old Town. This street is a hot spot for some of the best tapas around. Try pork cheek in cream of pumpkin, or fresh fish using the ancient ‘almadraba’ technique of procuring the catch of the day.

4 person apartment with sea views

Boasting sea views, Apartment Torre Lugano is set in Benidorm, an 8-minute walk from Rincon Deloix. Guests staying at this self-catering apartment have access to a fully equipped kitchen. This apartment will provide guests with 2 bedrooms, a TV and air conditioning. The apartment also includes a bathroom with a bath and a bidet. Aqualandia is a 10-minute walk from the apartment.

    4. Puig Campana Mountain

This is the second highest peak in the Valencian region, and provides a stunning profile from the coast. It is possible to hike the mountain with some planning, or alternatively find many fantastic holiday rentals that have a picturesque view of its summit.

With 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, you will have all amenities necessary including a living area with sofa and a flat screen TV and close to all restaurants and bars.

    5. Levante Beach, Benidorm

The weather in Benidorm in March and April is certainly pleasant, and you will experience this normally packed out beach at its calmest.
