Tips for overcoming anxiety
Here are some tips on how to overcome anxiety
Get out of your comfort zone

One of the most important tips, don’t settle in staying within your comfort zone, reach out and grab what you really want in life. If you think things will change when you don’t, you’re wrong.
Say goodbye to comparisons

You are not alone, there are many people which have problems just like yours. Don’t compare yourself to your friends and family, or anyone! There’s no-one better to compare yourself with, than yourself!
Imagine yourself telling the best travel stories to your friends

Travelling is amazing, but so are the memories and stories you have to tell once you’ve got back. If you feel lost and lonely, imagine yourself explaining all these stories to your loved ones once you return.
Save money so you have less to worry about

Before you go travelling, make sure you have enough money to use on your trip. Especially for emergency situations like a taxi ride home late at night or a bite to eat on your 5 hour bus journey. This way you won’t have to worry about not having enough money.
Remember that bad things can be good things

The most powerful way to overcome anxiety is having a powerful mind. Every time you’re in a difficult situation you have now learnt how to deal with it better next time. Or if you missed the bus, at least you can now visit that beautiful café for a tasty sandwich.
Organise your trip with everything you need

One of the things which causes anxiety attacks is the lack of control you feel that you have. To avoid it, prepare everything in advance, take a travel pillow if you want to sleep, or music to unwind.
Don’t bring more than you need

Don’t bring more than you actually need. If you have a heavy bag it will be much more difficult and uncomfortable to deal with it. Try to make yourself comfortable.
Don’t eat food which can increase anxiety

Healthy eating is key for controlling anxiety. Even if you don’t believe it, coffee, sugary drinks, alcohol and other products with a lot of sugar can increase stress and anxiety. So if you can, avoid them!
Think about how incredible your trip is/will be

Make sure you remember why you are going on your trip: to have a great time. When you are discovering Buddhist temples or walking around Parc guell in Barcelona, take a moment to breathe and enjoy it.
The best way to overcome anxiety is by yourself. You have to try to control your thoughts and think about the moment you are in. These tips should help you to stay calm in a panic situation but you also have to try to put some effort in yourself.
