  • Thinking of heading to the slopes with your family this winter season? Look at these carefully selected chalets that are situated in a range of excellent family ski resorts that are perfect no matter the age, ability or expectation of a ski holiday.

    1. Spacious chalet for 7 guests in Tremblant, Québec, Canada

If you’re looking for something that extends out of the European ski holiday range, why not try a family ski holiday in Canada? This self-catering accommodation allows you to get far more for your money, if you’re willing to take the plunge. With a great value group price for 7 nights, you have access to a wonderful patio with a pool, space for children to play and useful ski-in / ski-out access on the basement level. It has family rooms, lots of indoor entertainment space and is located close to the slopes. It comes with all kitchen and bathroom amenities, towels and linen so you can save space in your suitcase for your ski gear and a flat screen TV.

Mont Tremblant is a great choice for a family ski holiday resort if you’re after something significantly quieter than the European slopes. The childcare facilities and children’s ski schools are very highly rated, and this is certainly fantastic for an adorable French-Canadian atmosphere that offers something a little different to the usual Alpine holiday.

    2. 3 bedroom ski apartment in Cortina, Italy

Just 5 minutes away from the centre of Cortina d’Ampezzo, Chalet Alverà in the Italian alps is a great choice for families and groups. It boasts very high ratings and is excellent value for money. The best part has to be the wonderful mountain views, but it also comes with free wifi throughout, and dishwasher and oven in the kitchenette. You do not need to bring towels to this self-catering accommodation. Cortina, host of the 1956 Olympics, is a great resort for novices and is therefore a top contender for a child friendly ski holiday. It is also one of the more stylish resorts in the Dolomites, meaning that it can be enjoyed by all the family if you’re also after apres-ski!

    3. 7 bedroom chalet in Belle Plagne, France

For a family friendly ski holiday that’s fully catered for both on and off the slopes, this vast chalet is perfect. It is built on a beautifully Alpine stone base with a wooden construction, and has been fully refurbished. This accommodation is perfect for more than one family, and is only 5 minutes away from the aerial lift and Paradiski area. With incredible views over looking Versant du Soleil and Mont Blanc, it can be enjoyed by both adults and children. It has an array of bedrooms boasting a mixture of single beds, bunk beds and double beds and even an outdoor jacuzzi. If you are wondering how to entertain the kids after a long day skiing, there is a Wii console and Hi-fi stereo system and a fully equipped kitchen to cater for the family, a library, board games, and a large living room for evenings around the fireplace.

La Plagne is reknowned for its family friendly atmosphere and array of ski schools and nursery slopes that make it the perfect choice for a ski holiday for kids.  Replete with wide and gentle slopes, this resort is great practice for lower intermediates and families.

    4. 5 bedroom chalet with views of Meribel, France

This is a beautiful and fully modernised chalet that boasts incredible views up to Meribel. It is in a very tranquil spot so that you and your family can enjoy some peace and quiet with windows all around to soak in your surroundings. It is located close to the main Meribel resort via the Olympic gondola, and this chalet takes care of all ski services, including organising airport transfers, ski hire, ski school lessons and a discount on lift passes. The living room and kitchen are perfect for entertaining a family, and the sliding doors from the kitchen open out on the terrace. It is certainly worth checking out the photos to see this one of a kind ski accommodation. With 5 bedrooms and three doubles and two twin rooms, this is great for a large group or family holiday skiing. It is also possible to book the chalet catered or self-catered.

The La Tania resort is great for small children, with the school taking kids from four months to five years old. It is easily reached by the rest of the Trois Vallées, so all of the family can choose their level, and offers free ski passes to children aged four and under. There is also a possibility to book a nanny for your stay, and so is a good choice as a baby friendly ski holiday.

    5. 8 guest chalet in Les Carroz, France

This stunning 4 bedroom apartment is in the heart of Les Carroz, and only 200m from the centre of the village or 10 minutes walk to the main ski lift station. It has been renovated to an excellent standard, with many luxury features. It has a large private south facing balcony, off street car parking, use of the communal sauna and a communal ski/boot room with dryers. It boasts incredible views of the Aravis mountain range, and views of the bottom of the Timalets red run down to Les Savages., It is fully equipped in every sense of the word, with fast WIFI, a 4k smart HDTV including French and UK satellite channels.

Les Carroz is a great choice as a quieter alternative (yet still very well connected) to the Grand Massif ski area offering 265 km of well maintained and varied pistes. The resort has many amenities including restaurants , supermarkets and ski rental stores, and plenty of Apres Ski entertainment. The chalet is also conveniently located next to a nursery/creche, making it the perfect baby friendly ski holiday destination. There are also a number of woodland trails if you fancy hiking or walking, and indoor and outdoor swimming pools nearby.
