It’s not a secret that all the biggest tourist attractions in the world cost money. Sometimes an entrance fee can be even more than the flight to get there! Especially in expensive cities like London, Paris or New York, it can end up costing a fortune just to see the sights. So we thought we would have a rummage around to find some of the most interesting attractions that you can visit without spending a penny! Here’s our list:
Lake Geneva Switzerland
In one of the most expensive cities in the world there are also many free attractions to visit! One of the best plans is to take a swim in the famous Lake Geneva, they even have free bikes to rent and wifi.

Edinburgh Botanical Garden
The Royal Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh is one of the most impressive places in the city. They originated in 1670 and wandering around their beautiful grounds is absolutely free!

Paris Beach
Yes you did read that correctly, there is a beach in Paris! On the bank of the Sena River, the Parisians have their own beach for the months of July and August and where you can lay on your towel, catch some rays and enjoy views across the rover. And of course, its free!

Templo De Debod, Madrid
What better place is there to visit for free in Madrid than the Templo De Debod. You can enjoy one of the most beautiful sunsets in this city from up here and without spending anything. It’s a treasure from ancient Egypt which is over 2,000 years old and can be found in the Cuartel de la Montaña Park and its ideal for a picnic with friends.

Bunkers des Carmel, Barcelona
Some of the best views across Barcelona can be found in the Bunkers des Carmel. These bunkers are ancient remains of an anti-aircraft hideout from the Spanish civil war, located in Guinardó Park. Today it’s the ideal place to have a picnic and enjoy impressive views of the sunset in Barcelona.

Formentor Lighthouse, Majorca
Another incredible place to visit in Spain and its totally free! When you’re not enjoying the beautiful beaches and coves you can drive up to the top of the Formentor lighthouse which was built in 1863 and offers some of the best views in Majorca.

Natural History Museum, London
An impressive museum about the history of humankind and the different species which have existed over time. It’s perfect for visiting with family or friends and its completely free! There are many other interesting museums in London which you don’t have to pay for such as the British Museum or the Science Museum.

Orange Gardens, Rome
St. Peters Basilica is not the only place you can enjoy great views in Rome. In the Organise Gardens you can enjoy a relaxing sunset in a much more relaxing environment.

Kensington Gardens, London
These gardens were created seven floors high in 1938. Inside you can see many different plant species and several gardens, inside there’s a Spanish garden which was inspired by the Alhambra in Granada. It’s free entry and located right next to Hyde Park.

Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp
If you want to find out more about the very dramatic Nazi history, you can visit a former concentration camp close to Berlin. And of course, Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp has free access.

The Getty Centre, Los Angeles
The Getty Centre is an art gallery in Los Angeles which is known for its architecture, gardens and wonderful artistic works, no charge of course.
