Would you ever live inside a cement factory? Ricardo Bofill is a Spanish architect and when he found this old cement factory in 1973 he decided to take on the project of making it his new home.
It took almost 45 years to complete, and it is still not finished as Ricardo is constantly changing and expanding his ideas of how to make this cement factory home even better. A place which was once surrounded by smoke and pollution, is now filled with vegetation and design.

The structure is absolutely huge and there are various rooms of all shapes and sizes. Both the inside and the outside are like a jungle. It’s located just a few kilometres outside of Barcelona in the countryside of Calatonia. In the hot summer months the building stays fairly cool due to being surrounded by vegetation and the thick stone walls.
The interior staircase is breathtaking.

Would you like to spend your time in a room like this one?

Would you like to sleep in this bedroom?

How about breakfast in this unusual terrace?

We love the simplicity of this library and the amount of space there is! The high ceilings give the place a more open feel and there’s a lot of light in the rooms too.
