  • Arc 1600: Also known as Arc Pierre Blanche, this is the lowest of the resort areas at approximately 1600m. Here you can directly catch the “Arc en Ciel”, also known as the funicular train at Bourg Saint Maurice TGV. There are 30 shops, various places to stay and also connection to other areas.
  • Arc 1800: This is the largest of the resort areas with over 100 shops and even an ice rink and two screen cinema! Here you have plenty of options for accommodation in Les Arcs. It regularly hosts snowboarding and snowbombing events, and has access to the “Transarc” gondola which goes directly to Arc 2000. It has access to a range of lifts and gondolas, including the six-seater Vagere. You can also easily reach La Plagne resort thanks to the Vanoise Express cable car.   • Arc 1950: This is a particularly large five star village that has guaranteed winter skiing. The architecture is typically Alpine, and there are a large number of shops to choose from. You can indulge in a variety of cuisines in this resort; whether you want to try the local Savoyard specialities, a crepe, or Italian or Mexican - you’ll have it all at your fingertips. There are many apartments in Arc 1950 for you to explore, with many ski-in ski-out facilities. Arc 2000: This is the highest station with many gondolas coming in and out of the resort. You have access to many shops, a cinema and more. The best snow often falls here, and it has access to lifts such as the Varet, Arcabulle, Marmottes and Bois de l’ors. When to visit Les Arcs

Depending on what kind of trip you’re after in Les Arcs, there are different points as to when you should visit. Christmas and New Year is a popular time for many to visit, and it will be more difficult to find cheap accommodation. But at this time, there is something really quite festive about staying in one of the cosy wooden chalets. January can be very cold and snowy, but it is generally a lot emptier and a brilliant time to visit. The busiest time other than the holidays has to be February; this month coincides with both British and French school holidays. It is very busy at this time of year, and more expensive. While in March, the sun is generally shining, the snow quality might not be as great. It is a cheaper time to visit, however.

Nearby destinations to Les Arcs

  • Val d’Isère: Forming part of the nearby Espace Killy area is the wonderful village of Val d’Isère. Located on the border of the Vanoise National Park, it is a combination of excellent skiing facilities and also the location of the Tour de France and other competitions. Located at 1,747m, and has an excellent lift system. It is considered sometimes to be the “Saint Tropez” of ski resorts, attracting an exclusive clientele.
