The busiest time of year for this city has got to be during the world-famous Edinburgh Festival Fringe during the month of August. In terms of art and culture, this is one of the biggest in the world - visit for a few days or the entire month for an endless supply of dance, musical and theatrical productions which come together to electrify the city year after year. If you are lucky enough to visit when the festival is in full swing, keep in mind that hotels in Edinburgh will be extremely expensive and so may not be the best option. Instead, we recommend booking an apartment in Edinburgh for a few days with friends and family so that you can enjoy the Fringe as you see fit, and perhaps a holiday apartment on Edinburgh's Royal Mile. If you want to go sightseeing, we recommend a free tour. Take a look at the Sandemans tours - they have guides that will tell you all the history of the city to make it an unforgettable trip.

When to visit the capital of Scotland

Of all British cities, this one receives the most besides London, so for some it is naturally important to prioritise when is best to visit. Depending on what you're after, there is a prime time for you to start searching for your holiday rental. With over 4 million visitors a year, it is a renowned tourist hot spot but particularly in August as it hosts the world's biggest arts festival. On the city's largest shopping thoroughfare of Prince Street, it was monitored that over 1 million people were on its streets in August and also in December. December is a particularly special time for the city because it hosts the Scottish Hogmanay celebrations. If that is the purpose of your trip, then you will certainly see the city at its most spectacular; but we recommend that you book well in advance to find the best cheap apartments, as prices do tend to peak significantly during these periods. The quietest time of year has got to be January or February and you will easily find some of the best luxury apartments at a low price. Similarly, the Edinburgh International Festival attracts visitors from all over the world, and the only time that ticket sales are exceeded for its festivals is for the Olympics and World Cup. Then again, the cultural events in this city are second to none, and we highly recommend that you make the trip.
