When to visit Cannes

Cannes is most famous for its world-renowned Cannes Film Festival, during which many international actors, actresses, producers and directors descend upon the city and preview new films. The summer in Cannes is an incredibly lively and busy period, and should certainly be experienced during this period. Warm weather usually lasts from May through to October, and the Cannes Film Festival falls at the end of May.   • Lérins Islands: A group of islands just off the coast of Cannes. The two largest are the Ile Sainte-Marguerite and the Ile Saint-Honorat and are the perfect place to take a day trip by boat.   • Palais des Festivals et des Congrès: The official residence of the Cannes Film Festival and the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity.

Gastronomy in Cannes

One of the most famous aperitifs is the lemon of Menton, made into ‘lérina’, a liqueur made by monks of the the Abbey of Lérins. The ‘beignets de fleurs de courgettes’, also known as courgette flowers, in which the courgettes are cooked ‘tempura’ style in olive oil and seasoned with salt, pepper and lemon juice.
