Relax
The large and quiet holiday home with 90 m² of living space on two floors is located in the heart of the romantic mountain village of Kritsa at 287m above sea level near the important town of Agios Nikolaos on the north coast of eastern Crete. Two bright bedrooms with air conditioning offer sleeping accommodation for 4 people (1 double bed 140x200cm each). One bedroom has the option of an additional travelling cot. All bedrooms can be locked with doors. In the cosy living room, a sofa bed (140x200xm) offers additional sleeping space for 2 people. The kitchen is fully equipped.

Bright kitchen and large bathroom

The fully equipped kitchen has a large fridge with freezer, an electric cooker with oven, a coffee machine, a toaster, a microwave and a kettle. The bathroom, which is large for Crete and very bright thanks to the window, has a shower tray and washing machine and is located on the upper floor. An additional guest WC is located on the ground floor.

Roof terraces with magnificent views

You can start and end the day on one of the two fantastic roof terraces with a breathtaking view over the village with an impressive view of the sea and the rocky backdrop. The illuminated roof terraces are located on two levels and are connected by an external staircase.

We want to contribute to a relaxing holiday on the largest island in Greece. That's why we provide you with numerous extras for your comfort during your stay in the accommodation: 1 set of bed linen per person, towels, tea towels, liquid soaps, washing-up liquid, washing powder, hairdryer, barbecue... A free WiFi network (20Mbit/sec) connects you with friends and acquaintances all over the world.

Convenient access

The very well developed and easy to drive New Road, comparable to a very good German main road, connects Kritsa with the international airport in Heraklion (Iraklio). Numerous car hire companies have offices here in the arrivals terminal. This route along the Mediterranean Sea and through imposing rocky gorges takes about 50-60 minutes by hire car and there are car parking facilities close to the house. You will receive directions and key handover information by email after booking.

Many services for our guests

The holiday home is ideal for families with children and couples. Board games, card games and a selection of books on the history and culture of the island enrich your stay. We provide you with a freezer and ice packs for your excursions. The rental price includes the final cleaning, laundry package, WiFi, electricity and water charges and use of the air conditioning. The house is a non-smoking house, but smoking is permitted on the two sun terraces.

Taverns and shops

Numerous taverns with delicious Mediterranean food and shops for daily needs, souvenirs and handicrafts are within walking distance of the house. In the shopping street you can buy olive oils, textiles, leather shoes, leather belts, natural soaps, ceramics and much more. Another shopping opportunity, a branch of the discounter Lidl, is on the way to Agios about 5 minutes' drive away. An ATM is located in the main street of the village, about 150 metres from the house.

Kritsá - a varied village

Kritsa is famous for its narrow, picturesque and winding streets and authentic village houses. The village is waiting to be discovered during evening strolls through the maze of alleyways. Typical Greek houses and churches and mighty old olive trees exude a special flair and provide motifs for dreamlike holiday memories.

Bathing fun by the sea

Kritsa and its surroundings are rich in sights and attractions. Two official beaches (Almyros and Ammoudara) are just 10 minutes away. Sun loungers, umbrellas, jet skis and other water fun activities await holidaymakers. Other sandy beaches and bays with azure blue, clean sea water and romantic rocks are just 15 minutes away. The well-known seaside resort of Elounda is around 20 minutes away by car.

Sunken palaces and churches

Archaeological enthusiasts can visit the ruins of the ancient city of Lato, which dominated the surrounding area on a hill just outside the village. The harbour of this trading town was located in today's Agios Nikolaos. In general, the many excavations bear witness to the importance of the landscape around Kritsa during the Bronze Age at the time of the Minoan civilisation, whose palaces are known worldwide. The most famous is the palace of Knossos, home of the Minotaur, near the present-day capital Iraklio. But traces of medieval Venetian culture can also be discovered just a few kilometres away. The famous church of Panagia Kerá with its magnificent frescoes stands right at the entrance to Kritsa in the middle of olive groves.

Breathtaking nature

Hikers will be impressed not only by the rock faces but also by the Kritsa Gorge to the north. In some places, the gorge is so narrow that you can touch the two sides with your hands. A circular walk through the gorge is approx. 6 km long.

Soap, electricity, air conditioning and water charges are included. There is a small guest WC next to the bathroom.
A baby cot is included by arrangement. In addition to the two bedrooms, there is a fold-out sofa bed in the living room for a further two guests. The kitchen is fully equipped. Key safe for late arrivals is at the house. You can drive right up to the Oleander holiday home to unload your luggage.
