Welcome to NIDO. In Italian, “nido” means “nest”: a warm, welcoming place where you can feel at home, no matter how far you have travelled to reach it.
NIDO was created around this simple idea. More than just a place to sleep, we wanted it to feel like a home to settle into: somewhere comfortable, peaceful and thoughtfully prepared, where you can slow down and enjoy the simple pleasures of being in Salento.
Located in Santa Maria al Bagno, NIDO is particularly suited to couples and small families. The apartment has been recently renovated with natural materials, soft colours and carefully chosen details that create a calm, warm atmosphere.
The spacious double bedroom features a comfortable bed, generous built-in storage and a TV, making it just as inviting for a quiet evening with a film as it is after a long day by the sea.
The bright living area includes a dining space and a comfortable sofa bed, which can accommodate the third guest. The kitchen is equipped for everyday living, whether you simply want to prepare breakfast before heading to the beach or enjoy an unhurried meal at home.
The bathroom features a glass-enclosed shower and elegant brushed-brass details, while air conditioning and parking add to the comfort of your stay.
The heart of NIDO, however, is its spacious private rooftop terrace. Beneath the wooden pergola you can enjoy breakfast outdoors, a relaxed lunch, dinner under the Salento sky or simply a quiet moment with a cup of tea at the end of the day. Sun loungers provide a place to relax during sunny afternoons, while the terrace also offers a partial sea view across the surrounding landscape.
For guests travelling with a baby or toddler, we know from experience how much easier a holiday becomes when you do not need to bring everything from home. On request, we will be happy to prepare useful baby amenities such as a travel cot and high chair, and we can discuss your needs with you before arrival so that NIDO is ready for your family.
A small private playground belonging to our family is located only a short distance away and may also be available to our young guests by prior arrangement.
We believe that hospitality also means helping guests discover the place they have travelled so far to see. We live in Salento and love sharing the area we know ourselves. If you wish, we will be happy to provide personal recommendations and a short guide tailored to the kind of holiday you would like to experience: beaches and swimming spots, nature, characteristic towns and villages, restaurants, local food, walks and places that we believe are genuinely worth discovering.
Santa Maria al Bagno and its seafront are within easy reach, as are Santa Caterina, Porto Selvaggio Nature Reserve and Sant’Isidoro. The historic centre of Nardò is a short drive away, while Gallipoli and Lecce make wonderful day or evening trips.
We live only a short distance from NIDO and are available if you need us, while always respecting your privacy and independence throughout your stay.
NIDO is set in a quiet residential area just outside the centre of Santa Maria al Bagno. The seafront, cafés and restaurants can be reached in around 10 minutes on foot, although a car or bicycle is recommended for exploring the surrounding area and the Salento coast comfortably. Parking is available, and complimentary bicycles may be available for our guests on request, subject to availability. The apartment is located on the first floor and is accessed by stairs. The private rooftop terrace and separate laundry area are reached via an external spiral staircase, so young children should always be supervised in these areas.
