Alain & Boyka welcome you to a charming 1941 winemaker's house carefully restored (of the "longère" type) steeped in local history (formerly linked to the prestigious "Château de Demigny" neighbouring Directoire style built in 1805 classified as a Historical Monument, a wine estate perched on a hill housing an exceptional wooden wheel press dating from 1777), nestled on the edge of the typical and commercial town centre (numerous amenities on site including a mini-market 200m from the gîte). A picturesque former wine-growing village in the Côtes Chalonnaises (with vineyards still standing nearby), nestled on a plateau facing the majestic vineyard slopes of the illustrious Côtes de Beaune (Grand Cru Burgundy) as a backdrop, Demigny lies on the banks of the Dheune River at the edge of the vast Gergy state forest (a natural "green lung" dotted with ponds and gentle footpaths). It boasts a notable heritage (a five-arched bridge, a 15th-century Gothic church, numerous beautifully restored period houses, etc.) and enjoys a magnificent, unspoiled rural setting (scattered with various protected areas designated as ZNIEFFs for their rich flora and fauna, and largely protected as a Natura 2000 site for its remarkable ecosystems). This bucolic, gently rolling plain blends viticulture and agriculture.
