Ski Bardonecchia's slopes by day and warm up in a modern apartment for five by night, in one of Italy's oldest ski towns.
La Casa di Olaf is a modern, well-equipped apartment in an alpine lodge, right in the heart of Bardonecchia and built for easy ski days.
The resort's three ski areas rise from the edge of town, with a free ski bus linking the lift stations, so the slopes are within easy reach and mornings start on the snow rather than behind the wheel.
Spread over two levels, the apartment is bright and welcoming, with a balcony framed by the peaks, ready for a drink as they turn pink at dusk. The kitchen-diner is well stocked with an oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher and fridge for relaxed meals after a day on the mountain.
Two bedrooms sleep up to five, a double plus a bunk-and-single room ideal for children, and both bathrooms have a shower.
Outside, there's a private garden with a table and chairs for the warmer months. Sleeping Bedroom 1: A master bedroom with a double bed and a wardrobe. Bedroom 2: A bedroom with a bunk bed, a single bed and a wardrobe. Bathroom Bathroom 1: Fitted with a shower, WC and bidet. Bathroom 2: Fitted with a shower, WC and bidet. Additional Smart TV • Games Console • Hair Dryer • Laundry Facilities • Close to Skiing • Pets Allowed on request • Not suitable for the elderly Please note that a car is recommended for getting around the area. Location La Casa di Olaf sits just a 10-minute drive from Bardonecchia centre, one of Italy's oldest ski resorts.
Its three ski areas, Colomion, Melezet and Jafferau, give around 140 kilometres of pistes for every level, from the gentle beginner slopes at Campo Smith to long descents through the trees, with the lifts rising from the edge of town.
In summer, the same mountains open up for walking and biking, with trails climbing to high valleys and alpine lakes such as Lago Verde. The town itself is a proper mountain town rather than a purpose-built resort, with cobbled streets, chapels, shops, cafés, an Alpine rollercoaster and restaurants within an easy walk.
Bardonecchia has its own railway station on the Turin-to-Paris line, with direct trains from Turin in about an hour, so it is easy to reach by train as well as by car. Turin's Caselle Airport is approximately an hour and a half's drive from this holiday apartment in Bardonecchia.
