PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ONLY RENT TO HOLIDAY GUESTS AND NOT TO COMPANIES! Wismar in brief Although Wismar, with its approximately 43,000 inhabitants, is a small town, it has a lot to offer.
The Swedish rule over Wismar, in particular, has left its mark.
Everywhere you look, you will find beautiful Brick Gothic houses.
Year after year, more and more of them are restored, enhancing the cityscape. Numerous sights can be found in the city center and at the harbor: The three Gothic main churches: St. Georgen, St. Nikolai, and St. Marien. The 100 x 100 meter cobblestone market square.
It features a city landmark, the Wismar waterworks from 1602 in Renaissance style.
Behind the town hall on Rudolph-Karstadt-Platz in the pedestrian zone is the original building of the Karstadt department store chain.
Rudolph Karstadt opened his first cloth shop here in 1881. The historic old harbor captivates with its water gate (the last remaining city gate), its vaulted building (a crooked two-story half-timbered structure), its replica of a Poel cog, and the bustling activity of fishing cutters in the harbor basin.
A variety of cafes and restaurants in both the city center and the harbor area invite you to linger. Of course, Wismar also has a cinema, a zoo, a bowling center, a city theater, sports parks, a leisure pool, a go-kart track, as well as opportunities for vintage sailing and deep-sea fishing. Wismar also has a lot to offer culturally: The Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival is hosted every year, the Campus Open Air is as popular as the St. Georgen concerts.
From classical to rock and pop, everything is represented. Holiday fun for the whole family – look forward to it!
