The city was born around the Castle of Dentice di Frasso, known for its square tower.
The Castle, which over the centuries has been built around the tower, is a veritable treasure chest of history: the courtyards, the nineteenth-century staircase, ceramic paved salons of Vietri, the frescoed ceilings, the hunting trophies, the stone fireplaces Lecce make you look like a king! And, in fact, the King of Italy, Vittorio Emanuele III stayed here when he was in Brindisi in September 1943! It's here that was shot the last Virna Lisi film Latin Lover.
