Higginson House is a beautifully refurbished four-bedroom historic townhouse in Marlow dating back to the 16th Century.
The property is a substantial part of a longstanding country estate, divided into superb separate dwellings in the 1950s. The house has been expertly extended and fully restored to create a truly unique and hugely impressive home.
Meticulously designed and built to mirror the original building, it features expertly crafted lead work, oversized gable ends, and a roof line to ensure the new blends seamlessly with the old. Inside, you are greeted by a beautifully panelled hallway with marble flooring, leading to the bespoke kitchen and dining room, featuring high vaulted ceilings and exposed solid oak beams.
Boasting period features throughout, the house offers fantastic entertaining space, natural light, and high ceilings.
Also found off the entrance hall is the extremely spacious living room, offering a sense of grandeur with its ornate ceiling, stone mullion bay windows with full-length seating, solid oak parquet flooring, and lovely original fireplace.
The ground floor is completed by a convenient guest cloakroom, concealed boot room, and separate utility/laundry room with a butler's sink.
Period features & high-end finish continue upstairs, with the four bedrooms and three bathrooms in the house.
The master suite features exposed flooring, a large balcony to the front of the house, and a classic marble-tiled ensuite.
There is a further double room with a period fireplace and a lovely family bathroom with a roll top bath.
On the top floor, there is a large double room with a beautifully finished ensuite and a further single bedroom/study.
The house looks out to a shared circular drive, with off-road parking for several cars.
There is an enclosed courtyard, storage with mains power, pre-wired for electric car charging, and further outside space provided by landscaped private gardens laid to lawn.
Higginson House is superbly located within Marlow, on one of its most exclusive roads.
Marlow is a vibrant Georgian market town, positioned on the River Thames and the doorstep of the Chiltern Hills and countryside designated as an AONB.
The picturesque town centre can be reached within a short walk, the riverside Higginson Park (donated to the town from the estate on the General’s 100th birthday), and a wealth of boutique shops, restaurants, and pubs, including Tom Kerridge’s Hand & Flowers (2 Michelin Stars) just moments away. Head to Windsor for a fabulous day out for the little ones at LEGOLAND, explore the royal residence of Windsor Castle or see what events are on at the Royal Windsor Racecourse.
In the other direction, slightly further afield, is Oxford, where you can visit the world-famous Bodleian Library, have an interactive tour through the Oxford Castle & Prison or view global exhibits at the Ashmolean Museum of Art and Archaeology.

Matt was the prefect host. The historic, stunning house was the perfect backdrop to exploring Marlow, the Michelin star restaurants and the shops.
We will definitely stay again and can’t speak more highly of the house and Matt as a host.
