The space Designed by JAWS Architects (who also designed Pumphouse Point), Braithwaite is a stylish and sophisticated retreat that makes the perfect base from which to explore Hobart and beyond. The generous living space - with an expansive daybed, TV with streaming services and easy-to-use gas fireplace looks through the glass-cornered dining area into the sun-drenched courtyard. Spend the morning in the king-size bed, before enjoying a coffee or stepping out into your private courtyard, which contains a full-size outdoor bath. The bathroom offers a walk-in rain shower with raw brass tapware and heated floor. Explore Art, history and natural beauty are all available in Hobart and Braithwaite is just 2km (a 15-minute walk or 5-minute drive) from Salamanca. Day tripping Braithwaite is the perfect base from which to explore everything Southern Tasmania has to offer - from the picturesque Huon Valley to the dramatic Tasman Peninsula. Dining out Hobart is famous for its vibrant restaurant scene and Braithwaite is just minutes away from some of the city’s best eateries.
We review restaurants for a living and are happy to provide you with a list of our current favourites. Eating in If you’d prefer to stay home, Braithwaite has a compact, fully equipped kitchen (no dishwasher) with an induction cooktop and Bertazzoni combination oven.
Our pantry is stocked with black and herbal tea, ground coffee, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, salt and pepper.
Coffee-making facilities include a plunger and stovetop espresso maker.
Collect local delicacies on your travels, or Hill St Grocer (an excellent gourmet supermarket, butcher and greengrocer) is just up the road and Uber Eats also delivers. Accessibility Braithwaite is all yours and shares a courtyard wall with the main house (a former corner store).
The residents of the main house are quiet and respectful and we ask the same of our guests. We are an inclusive stay and all guests of any background or community are welcome in our space although two steps up from the street limits our ability to host those with limited mobility.
The property is heritage-listed, so our capacity to change that is constrained. Please note that there is a security camera outside the front door.
