Grado, also known as the Island of the Sun, is a beautiful lagoon town in Friuli Venezia Giulia, famous for its historic center with Venetian charm, golden beaches, and pristine nature. The heart of the city is a maze of narrow streets and squares dominated by the Basilica of Sant'Eufemia (6th century), famous for its early Christian mosaics, its octagonal baptistery, and its bell tower with a statue of the Archangel Michael.

The main beaches are the Costa Azzurra, close to the center and a Blue Flag beach, and the large, well-equipped G.I.T. beach. From the seafront and the Nazario Sauro dam, you can enjoy spectacular views of the lagoon, which can be explored by boat, passing by islets and casoni (fishermen's huts) up to the evocative sanctuary of Barbana, a pilgrimage destination.
