From your doorstep at View Cottage, you're well-positioned to explore the historic city of Inverness.
Visit the majestic Inverness Castle and stroll along the picturesque banks of the River Ness.
The river is often alive with movement, salmon pushing upstream, seals cruising quietly beneath the surface, and even otters appearing at dawn if you’re lucky.
You can soak up the vibrant atmosphere at The Victorian Market, where local artisans showcase their products; it is the perfect spot to pick up a unique memento.
Then, pay a visit to the stunning Inverness Cathedral, dedicated to St Andrew, a jewel in the architectural heritage of the city.
Continue your explorations beside the Caledonian Canal, where the soft clinking of rigging from moored yachts and the wide, peaceful towpaths create one of the city’s most tranquil outdoor spaces.
From here, you can board a Jacobite Cruise for a journey across the deep, mysterious waters of Loch Ness, a favourite with Nessie hopefuls of all ages.
Or lose yourself in the immersive greenery of the Inverness Botanic Gardens, where vibrant tropical flowers contrast beautifully with the rugged Highland landscape just beyond.
Food lovers are spoiled for choice in Inverness: from the artisan street‑food kitchens in the Victorian Market’s reimagined foodhall to craft beer at Black Isle Brewery and the city’s lively collection of independent cafés and music-filled venues, the Highland Capital has a creativity all of its own. If you’re craving an adventure further afield, the Cairngorms offer everything from high‑level hikes to winter sports, while the beloved Munro Ben Wyvis promises sweeping panoramas for those who climb it. The wider region also appeals to fans of Outlander and The Traitors, who come in search of evocative Highland scenery, Jacobite history and filming locations scattered through the landscapes beyond the city.
With excellent transport links from Inverness, including rail, coach and nearby airport connections, you are perfectly placed for onward journeys along the NC500 or even crossings to the Outer Hebrides and Orkney.
When you return to your welcoming cottage, unwind and reflect on your unforgettable day exploring the Scottish Highlands.
Your tranquil retreat awaits with the promise of exceptionally restful nights and adventure-filled days.

The cottage location was great. The only downside for us was the comfort level of the lounge/dining room. We struggled to sit comfortably on the sofa, and did not expect to have to pull the dining table and chairs into the centre of the living room to eat.
