There’s a story behind the name of this villa on the edge of Vinci in
Tuscany – it’s next to the house where Leonardo da Vinci was born.
Set on the edge of the town after which Tuscany’s most famous son was
named, Casa Lionardo isn’t just well positioned for appreciating the
landscape the great Renaissance polymath called home, it’s handy for
the fantastic local museum dedicated to him. There you can find out
more about the man, his art and the flights of fancy he had more than
500 years ago that we now recognise as the airplane, submarine and
more.
That’s day one ticked off, where next? Well, there’s world-class
sightseeing in Florence, wine tasting at the vineyards to the south,
you could even head to the beach at Viareggio. And at the end of these
exciting days out, you’ll be pleased to return to this comfortable
villa for four.
It has a welcoming open-plan living room and dining area, decorated
with a tasteful mix of antique and modern furnishings and served by a
smart modern kitchen. Upstairs there are two generous-sized bedrooms, a
double and a twin, both with large en-suite bathrooms. It’s a Tuscan
treasure with traditional touches such as double-height, vaulted
ceilings and terracotta tile floors.
There's a small garden, too, commanding gorgeous views across the
Tuscan hills from the shaded outdoor terrace, private pool and sundeck.
It’s just the place to relax – and plan where next to roam.
