Just a few hundred metres from Leonardo da Vinci’s birthplace lies Casa
Lionardo, a truly special holiday home with a rich past. Built in 1890
as the village school, it originally housed classrooms on the ground
floor and the teacher’s quarters above. Its distinctive architecture
has been carefully preserved and tastefully modernised. Today, the
house offers space for a small family or two couples looking to explore
this iconic part of Tuscany.
Located on the peaceful edge of Vinci, the house enjoys a rural setting
with views of vineyards, olive groves and the village itself. The
centre of Vinci, with its Leonardo Museum, restaurants and shops, is
just five minutes away by car. Nearby, places like Cerreto Guidi with
the Villa Medici or Monsummano Terme with its famous hot springs offer
great excursions. Florence, Lucca, Pisa and the coast can all be
reached in under an hour.
Outside, guests can relax on a shaded dining terrace under a pergola,
in the well-kept garden or by the endless pool, perfect for a
refreshing dip on hot summer days. The cream-coloured villa sits on a
quiet country road and opens up to stunning views of Vinci.
The two-storey house is full of character, featuring very high vaulted
brick ceilings on the ground floor that recall its former life as a
school. Original terracotta floors and exposed wooden beams on the
upper floor have been carefully restored. Antique and modern
furnishings are combined throughout to create a warm and stylish
atmosphere with authentic Tuscan flair.
