Regina Dar is a spectacular luxury residence located in the centre of Positano, with architectural elements that mix the Arabian style with the majolica style, typical of Positano. Following a skilful renovation, which has enhanced its characterising elements, it is the ideal place to spend a holiday of relaxation, sea and luxury.
The building of historical interest within which it is located is one of the late 18th century palaces directly overlooking the sea, offering a breathtaking view of the island of Galli and the entire Amalfi Coast.
The recent renovation has brought together elements of the Arab-Mediterranean culture, which for a long time influenced the architecture and building techniques of the Maritime Republic of Amalfi, such as a majolica bathtub reminiscent of a hammam, with an ivory stone floor, cut in the shape of an Arab star. To embellish it all, Vietri-made majolica tiles from the early 19th century are present both in the kitchen and in the dining room, faithfully reproducing the idea of the domestic hearth on which cooking was done in times past.
Ancient majolica tiles also return in the headboards of beds or in the open cupboards, bringing rhythm and colour to large, bright white rooms. The yellow of the sun and the tiles, the blue of the sea that can be admired from every room, the whiteness of white, create a sensory mix capable of giving you vibrant emotions.
But let us go into the details of this wonderful flat. The entrance is from the main street, viale Pasitea, with just five steps leading up to the house. A corridor of stained-glass windows leads us into the generously sized living room, with its white linen sofas, wrought-iron table and chairs, ceramic pitchers and Positano-style decorations. Between the living room and the dining room we also find a first full bathroom, large with the presence of a hydromassage tub with cervical jet, made ad hoc and embellished with antique majolica, shower, toilet, bidet and stone washbasin. From the living room there is access to the outdoor terrace, which is partly covered so that one can enjoy lunch or dinner even in the hottest months of the year. There are also sun loungers, an outdoor shower and armchairs for outdoor relaxation.
From the living room, we move on to the dining room, with Vietri majolica sideboards, a central wooden table with eight chairs, a refrigerator with freezer, and the wine cellar, stocked with a personal selection of wines. The kitchen, built under two symmetrical domes, consists of a Carrara marble sink, a hob with four burners, two of which are induction and two gas. Dishwasher, microwave, electric oven, toaster and kettle by D&G in the limited series inspired by Sicily.
From the living room, one enters the first bedroom, with sea view balcony, large king-size bed and mattress with memory topper, blue tiled fireplace and chest of drawers.
The second bedroom has a full en-suite bathroom, including a large walk-in shower, blue and yellow tiled open wardrobe and velvet armchair. This room is also a passageway to the third and final bedroom, with a queen-size bed, stucco and majolica headboard, large en-suite bathroom.
Please note, that the rooms can be completely independent using the large French windows accessed via the balcony, rather than internally.
