The city of Trier has levied an accommodation tax (City Tax) on privately arranged, chargeable hotel overnight stays since 1 January 2018. Business overnight stays and trips for educational purposes are exempt from the accommodation tax.
3.5% city tax on the gross overnight price.
Tax also levied on "no-shows", i.e. non-cancellation of a non-arrival, as the possibility of overnight accommodation was provided.
