The village of Combloux is thought to have been settled as early as the 12th century. The name Combloux appears for the first time on a parchment dating from 1284, on which there is a seal decorated with a wolf's head. Among the possible etymologies, "Cumba Lupis", meaning "La Combe aux Loups", is the most widely accepted.
