Arriving on the plateau cordais, the landscape is quite different, the brick omnipresent in Albi gives way to limestone white stones, vines appear, ubiquitous to the bastides of Cordes-sur-Ciel or Castelnau-de-Montmiral.

The village of Mailhoc is halfway between Albi and Cordes.

There are many small hamlets formerly agricultural, such as the Vilandie, where each family owned a dwelling (or several), a barn and outbuildings, and lands all around, sometimes a lake, as here.
