Paradise does exist!



A little north of Frigiliana there is a road that leads to the village of El Acebuchal, a well-kept secret in the middle of the natural park of the Sierra de Tejeda y Almijara. One kilometre before arriving, you will find this beautiful house in a green valley where peace and tranquillity reign. A small hidden paradise in one of the last strongholds of the maquis...








Situation and exterior




Rustic, private and rural. That is the essence of this charming site which is about 10 minutes drive from Frigiliana, a lovely drive through the mountains. The access has a few sharp bends but is not difficult and is all concreted. The cortijo is set in a large finca with various sitting areas amidst a wide range of flowers and plants. There is an attractive barbecue area and a shady porch with garden furniture. The private pool area (7m x 4m) is situated on an upper level, where you can sunbathe in a hammock and enjoy the panoramic views over the village of El Acebuchal, a hamlet with an interesting history. The village, one of the last strongholds of the Maquis, was forcibly abandoned in 1949 by the Franco regime. The children of those families who left with tears in their eyes dreamed of returning and seeing it again as in its best days. That dream came true in 1998 when the rehabilitation of the first house began. Little by little, everything was rebuilt... There are still no shops in this village but it is worth visiting the only restaurant where they serve local game dishes. In the village of Frigiliana you will find all kinds of shops, supermarkets, bars and restaurants. And for those looking for the sea, you can go for a swim at one of the beaches of Nerja, which is only 9 kilometres away, about 15 minutes by car.
