Welcome to Casteil, a charming village nestled at the foot of the Pic du Canigou and the Abbey of Saint-Martin-du-Canigou: the perfect destination for both peaceful relaxation and invigorating sports.
Ideally located in the Catalan Pyrenees Regional Natural Park, this gîte has been renovated using eco-friendly materials by the owner.
Whether you're a hiking enthusiast, a thrill-seeker, or curious to discover cultural heritage, Casteil is sure to captivate you. Explore the many hiking trails leading to the surrounding peaks, test your climbing skills at one of the region's most renowned climbing sites, or discover historical treasures such as the Abbey of Saint-Martin-du-Canigou, a jewel of Romanesque art.
Nearby, Vernet-les-Bains, a famous spa town, invites you to a moment of well-being, while the Mediterranean beaches await you about an hour away for a sunny getaway.
Food lovers can also explore the Roussillon wine routes, an unmissable experience in this exceptional wine region. Accessible via a few steps, this gîte, converted from the village's very first school, combines old-world charm with modern comfort.
It comprises: A living room with a double sofa bed, a pellet stove, and a fully equipped kitchen: a four-burner gas hob, a Beko bean-to-cup coffee machine, a kettle, and a toaster, opening onto a private enclosed 25 m² terrace furnished with garden furniture and a griddle. Upstairs: Two bedrooms with a clean, minimalist style, each with: 1 queen-size bed (160 cm) 2 single beds (90 cm) A shower room with WC. With its own separate entrance, the gîte is located above the small restaurant run by the owner from June to the end of September.
There, you can enjoy 100% organic cuisine sourced from local producers.
A bag of pellets for the stove will be provided.
The second bag will be charged at €15 directly by the owner. A second gîte (66G104309), with a separate entrance, sleeps 2.

Un des meilleurs gîtes que j'ai pu fréquenter. Fraîchement refait, très confortable, hôtes à proximité et disponibles. Il manquerait quelques produits de base d'avance (pastilles vaisselle, huile, sel,..) pour les courts séjours ou les "moins-organisés" comme moi, et ce serait idéal.

Le gîte est idéalement situé pour arpenter le massif du Canigou, ce que nous avons fait allègrement pendant 5 jours. Très propre, bien équipé. confortable, calme. Les propriétaires sont charmants et de très bons conseils. Bref., nous avons passé un séjour au top.

Tout était absolument parfait, y compris la restauration grâce au restaurant tenu en-dessous par les propriétaires (ce qui, parce qu'il ferme à 19 heures, n'enlève rien au calme du gîte). Ce que nous avons particulièrement apprécié est la gentillesse et la qualité de l'accueil.
