Discover the Ségala, a wild country of character, between the Viaur valley and its mining heritage.
Between Tarn and Aveyron, the Viaur Viaduct (1902) spans the valley and its "traverses", 3800 tonnes of steel, it seems to sit there, as light as a feather, a harmonious blend of technology and nature. Discover the Planques chapel at the end of a shady path, the Thuriès dam with its 1920 power station and a whole range of hiking trails.
Known for its mining past, Carmaux, the town of Jean Jaurès, is proud of its identity, personified by its monuments: the Château de la Verrerie, the "Bureau de la Mine", the "Centrale", parks and the Musée de la Mine. All amenities and services: restaurants, shops, Friday market, cinema
Just 5 minutes away, you can enjoy the cool waters of Lac de la Roucarié: supervised swimming, fitness trail, children's play area, rowing.
For fun family activities, there's Cap'découverte, a multi-purpose centre built on the old open-cast mine site near Carmaux
30 minutes away, you're in either Albi or Rodez, with their historic centre and Toulouse-Lautrec or Soulage museums, or to Cordes-sur-Ciel via Monestiés, two of France's most beautiful villages
The gîte is an atypical wooden house, made of stacked wooden beams, completely independent
A single-storey air-conditioned living room:
- fully equipped open kitchen: oven, dishwasher, fridge-freezer, microwave...
- lounge area with TV, library
- bedroom with 140x190cm double bed
- shower room with shower, wc and washbasin
Covered terrace with barbecue and garden table, small enclosed garden, parking
In this format of the Petite Maison Bois et Soleil, access to the two upstairs bedrooms is closed but you can find the Maison Bois et Soleil in 6-person format with reference 81G1895 on Gîtes de France.
Linen included, heating and electricity extra above 2kwh/day/pers.
The Maison Bois (as it has always been called) has joined forces with the Occitan sun to become: "La petite maison bois et soleil".
