L'Horto is a former family-run market garden acquired around 1920.
It is ideally located for visiting Carcassonne on foot: the Canal du Midi, the Cité de Carcassonne, the Bastide Saint-Louis, the historic town centre with all its shops and entertainment, and the banks of the River Aude for pleasant walks or cycle rides. To cool off in the summer months, an aqualudic complex with swimming pool and spa area is just 2 minutes' walk away.
There are plenty of attractions nearby: the Montagne Noire, where you can discover the Canal du Midi's ingenious water supply system, the book village of Montolieu, the medieval village of Fanjeaux, Castelnaudary and its cassoulet, Limoux, the castles of the Cathar region such as Saissac and Lastours, and the Lac de la Cavayère. The sea is less than an hour away. It is centrally located for exploring the whole of the Aude region.

You will enjoy a peaceful and quiet stay in Carcassonne. The owners share a wooded garden with several animals: sheep, chickens, pigs, dogs and cats. There is a private terrace with garden furniture and a griddle for enjoying your meals or relaxing after a day's sightseeing. Parking is private and secure with an electric gate inside the property.
The gîte does not have air conditioning but it keeps cool whatever the outside temperature.
The entrance is via a veranda, a separate WC is located next door.
- Ground floor: A living room with a dining table, a sitting area with sofa, armchairs and TV. A separate fully-equipped kitchen.
- Upstairs: A first bedroom with a 140x190cm bed. A second bedroom with two 80x200cm beds that can be joined together to make a 160cm bed. An independent shower room (shower, washbasin and WC).
Pets are welcome with good behaviour.
