The Casale del Domo dates back to the fourteenth century, well restored and located on the hills of Pistoia in the midst of olive trees and cypresses, in a very small medieval village, Monsummano castle. Its fortifications, on top of a panoramic hill at 340 metres above sea level, dominate a large territory and are visible, thanks also to night lighting, from all over the Valdinievole, and the panorama it offers reaches as far as the Padule di Fucecchio. The ancient village, with the presence of remains of Roman civilisation, is distinguished by some architectural elements that compose it: the church of San Niccolao in the centre, overlooked by the farmhouse, the octagonal tower at the entrance to the fortress and the remains of the two arches of the access gates to the castle, all surrounded by an imposing wall, in places still preserved in excellent condition. The Casale del Domo is located right in the centre of the medieval village, with all the charm of an ancient past. The restoration of the farmhouse was carried out by the owners in absolute compliance with the environmental and architectural constraints of the historic structure, using only materials typical of the area. The interiors have also been furnished with taste and elegance: period furniture (some dating back to the sixteenth century), decorations, doors, windows and Persian carpets. The external walls are covered with typical local stone as are all the surrounding houses. Thanks to this peculiarity, the building retains its original appearance as it was when it was built more than 700 years ago. The farmhouse overlooks the typical Tuscan countryside - hills and olive groves, woods of chestnut and oak trees - completely immersed in an oasis of peace. To the north you can see the medieval towers of Serravalle Pistoiese and further on the mountains of Abetone, a well-known winter resort. To the south-west, on the other hand, you can appreciate the Valdinievole in a panoramic visit, and even on summer days it is also possible to see the sea peeping out between the hills. The few cars that pass belong to people who live in the area. The farmhouse is furnished with extreme taste, with furniture and valuables as well as having all the comforts to make you feel at ease and is particularly suitable for families with children or a group of friends who love nature and are looking for total relaxation. The farmhouse retains its medieval structure and is 250 square metres large, so thanks to its size we can easily accommodate 10 people. You will love to spend your time in the outdoor garden, spread over several levels, furnished with quality furniture and barbecue for your barbecues. Its strategic position allows you to spend a holiday in complete tranquility, with the possibility of taking walks in the beautiful surrounding countryside as well as being able to visit the nearby village of Monsummano (1 km), walk to the well-known spa of the Grotte Giusti just 700 m, which can also be reached from the farmhouse through an ancient pavement, Montecatini Terme (5 km), Pistoia (9 km), the beautiful Tuscan capital 35 km, Pisa (40 km), Lucca (25 km), the sea of Versilia (54 km).

Very nice renovated medieval farm house. Rustic interior. Very nice kitchen and bathrooms. Good directions for operating the appliances. The location inside the remnants of a castle is remarkable, and the view from Monsummano Alto is spectacular. We also had a fantastic dinner at La Forresteria restaurant right on the mountain top.

The property exceeded all my expectations. Beautiful historic Tuscan villa, next to a historic church and just steps away from a Michelin Star restaurant. The owner of the villa, Gianluca could not have been more accommodating. He supplied the house with a bowl of fruit, fresh flowers and many bo...
