The drive from the seaside town, Oliva, to Forna, a picturesque, charming mountain village is fascinating as one winds through a plethora of orange groves lying in the valley surrounded by a mesmerizing range of mountains. One acknowledges the scents of oranges during the gradual climb.
Entering Forna through a cobble-stoned ‘Calle’ one is charmed by well-maintained village houses left and right, lemon and orange trees giving first impressions of harmonious tranquillity, a major feature of the village. ‘La Plaça’ appears, a delightful village square, clean and superbly looked after by village inhabitants, and the local council. A fine restaurant, a beautiful chapel built in 1888 meets the eye, and beyond ‘La Placa’ to the right is a quiet cul-de-sac where ‘Casa Sonia’ is perfectly located.
A corner house, semi-detached, with steep forested hills to the rear and breath-taking mountain peaks rising outside Forna to be admired. Entrance to the house is simply navigated, one enters a typically built Spanish village house with a ‘modern flair’.
The fully equipped modern kitchen leaves no wishes open, all mod-cons required are available including a dishwasher, washing machine, oven, hot plates, fridge-freezer, etc,. All integrated to the latest standards.
We then enter the living area where a wood burner greets the visitors offering a warm, welcome feeling. A room further is the dining area with superb solid wood furnishing tastefully decorated with works of art giving the whole area a feeling of homeliness and comfort.
A tiled stairway leads up to the sleeping area, two bedrooms, one with an en-suite shower, and WC, the other a guest room with access to the outside patio. An additional shower, with WC is situated in the hallway. The hallway gives access to the outside upper patio area.
All hygienic facilities have been integrated into the atmosphere of the house, moreover, they are all very modern; showers and WC’s. The owner’s fine attention to detail has created a blend of traditional Spanish design with modern interior requirements.
We venture outside and discover two patios, one below where a door from the dining room gives access. A stone stairway leads up to the above patio which is furnished with comfortable garden furniture. A retreat in the summer months from the beautiful, but hot Spanish sun. In the winter months the above patio offers hours of splendid sunshine with comfortable seating.
After stepping outside into the village, within a few minutes guests can enjoy a view of the surrounding mountains, perfect for mountain or racing biking and mountain walks. In addition, if guests prefer excursions to the amazing, clean beaches between Oliva and Denia, they are just 15 minutes away. Supermarkets and other facilities are all available in Pego, just a few kilometres away.
All in all a perfect abode and location for long or short term rentals.

We had a very enjoyable stay at Casa Sonia. The Hosts Roberto and Marissa were excellent, we were met at the property on our arrival, and shown around the house. There was everything you need for a long stay, a very well equipped kitchen, plenty of towels, bedding etc.On discovering there wasn't a hairdryer, I messaged our hosts and Marissa delivered one to us the next day.
