Surrounded by the beautiful National Trust coast, with amazing views of the sea looking out to Baggy Point, Old Bakery Cottage is in a superb location for making the most of North Devon’s amazing coastline. This characterful yet spacious cottage is in the heart Mortehoe village and provides a fantastic base both for local beaches and for walkers with the Southwest Coast path just yards away.
The award-winning beaches of Woolacombe Bay (Times Beach of the Year 2021 and consistently noted in the top UK beaches list)
are within walking distance or short hop by car. A 10-minute walk from the cottage across Morte Point takes you to Grunta Beach, a great alternative for rock pooling and sheltered bathing. The South West Coastal path allows you to head down to Morte Point to watch a resident colony of seals or towards Bull Point Lighthouse to Rockham Beach and beyond to Lee Bay
The property itself is full of character making the most of its position and the available views with a spacious and light first floor open plan living area with a lounge and dining area and a terrace looking out to the sea. The kitchen is at one end of the space upstairs with cooker, new fridge/freezer, microwave, slim-line dishwasher, toaster, Air Fryer, kettle etc.
The large living/dining room has a gas-flame effect fire, 2 leather sofas, dining table and chairs, wall mounted Smart TV and Bluetooth speaker/docking station with USB charger. High speed Wi-Fi is available throughout the cottage.
The bedrooms are on the ground floor. There are two double bedrooms (one with small en-suite w/c & shower) and a third bedroom containing 3ft (adult sized) bunks. There is a separate Utility/drying room with washing machine (no dryer) and a fitted bathroom.
Mortehoe is a charming village set up on the cliffs above Morte Point and Woolacombe. It features in the Doomsday book, and its lovely church goes back to Norman times. It has two great pubs serving locally produced food, a Fish & Chips shop, a tearoom, a Post Office, a village store, a bistro, a 13th century church, a gift shop and the local Mortehoe Museum. There is also an under 11’s play area in the village. These are all a short stroll away from the Cottage.
Slightly further afield the major surf beaches of North Devon await, championship standard golf may be played at Saunton with a 9 hole course just 5 minutes away and horse riding is also available locally
Bed linen & one bath/one hand towel per person provided -please bring beach towels. There is a travel cot and highchair if required. One well behaved dog is welcome. House rules explained on booking.
Parking is in the local Mortehoe village car park, just a short stroll away. You can drop off and unload at the cottage. There is a good value visitors parking permit that covers the village car park and 23 other local council car parks in the area. Four or seven day seasonal parking permits can be purchased in advance via credit/debit card and operate electronically from North Devon District Council website.
All in all a truly lovely place with a special atmosphere and one of the only places with sea views in Mortehoe. We hope you’ll love it!

A good well equipped comfortable cottage in the middle of the village with the bonus of a terrace with a wonderful sea view.
Car can be parked in public car park 5 minutes away at a reasonable cost.
Would recommend and return to this property.

Hi
Our stay at the old bakery was amazing! The house is comfortable' the view spectacular, quiet and so relaxing! just one thing- the fridge is a little small old and not in very good working order. Other than that no complaints at all. We would definently be interested in returning next year.
Kind regards to Maddy who was so helpful all along

Hidden down little side alley opposite the Chichester Arms is this charming apartment. Even a little House Martin nesting in the porch. Nicely decorated with lovely little arts and crafts around the place. We had a great stay with fantastic views to sit and ponder, while d3ciding which walk to do.
