Our flats are located in the Hugo de Grootstraat, where there is complete tranquillity, yet the centre of Leiden is just a stone's throw away. In 2022/2023, the monumental building (from 1892) was completely renovated and we started Veldhorst Apartments in 2024. On the first floor is our 2-person Studio which is beautifully decorated and really fully equipped. On the 2nd floor is our 4-person flat with 2 bedrooms, a spacious bathroom, cosy landing and living room including kitchenette.

Our property is located in one of the most sought-after Leiden neighbourhoods "Vreewijk" and dates back to the 19th century. It was Leiden's first expansion outside the canals and has now been declared a protected cityscape. The diversity in the neighbourhood is great; there are almost no identical houses. The different colours, bricks, building heights and location on the water give the neighbourhood a lot of atmosphere. Vreewijk is an increasingly dynamic neighbourhood, also because of its location near the city centre. Veldhorst Apartments is at walking distance from several museums and other characteristic buildings of Leiden.

The most famous and beautiful canal of Leiden is right around the corner: the Rapenburg. On this canal are some of Leiden's most stately buildings. The Academy Building and various other buildings of Leiden University are located here, as well as the many student houses, the National Museum of Antiquities, the Hortus Botanicus and the Siebold House. Every year, the Rapenburg concert is held on the water of the Rapenburg.

Of course, the immediate area also has many shops. There are many good restaurants and lovely terraces where you can go for breakfast, lunch or dinner. When the weather is nice, the canals are busy sailing and the terraces are pleasantly full.
