KorkHouse.
It’s a tiny house made of cork cladding and plywood interior.
We want it to be a cozy hideaway for the creative soul, nestled at the beautiful crossroads of Dorset, Somerset, and Wiltshire. If you’re a scriptwriter, artist, photographer, designer, or anyone in need of some inspiration that needs time to think different.
What Makes KorkHouse Special
Our little cabin is built for two and is perfect for both short escapes and long stays. It’s clad in eco-friendly cork, which inspired the name KorkHouse. We’ve gone all out on sustainability: there’s a grey water recycling system, thick sheep’s wool insulation to keep you cozy year-round, and we harness solar power for electricity. Inside, you’ll find a fully equipped kitchenette, a super comfy memory foam mattress, and a wood burner to keep you warm. There’s also a TV, a spacious hot shower, and a waterless composting toilet.
Nature Right at Your Doorstep
KorkHouse sits on a mini island, complete with an outdoor dining area with wood stools and a dinner table – perfect for BBQs. You can relax by the stream, enjoy the soothing sounds of our mini waterfall, and watch sheep and cows grazing nearby. If you’re lucky, you might even spot a stag, deer, or our friendly ducks, Susan and Paul.
Our Story
We built KorkHouse in 2021 when we were just 22 and 24 years old. We’re two young creatives with a passion for design and tiny living. We wanted to create a place where people could truly live, not just stay for a night or two. We’ve poured our hearts into making KorkHouse a space where you can be comfortable, live sustainably, and find the peace and inspiration you need to create.
Perfectly Located
KorkHouse is in Dorset, but it’s also right on the borders of Somerset and Wiltshire. You’re just a short drive from Bruton, The Newt, and some amazing Michelin-starred restaurants and art galleries. Glastonbury and Frome are nearby too. Plus, it’s super easy to get here from London – just hop on a train to Gillingham, Dorset, and you’re only a short bike or taxi ride away.
