Located on the spectacular gulf dominated by the island of Tavolara, Olbia is the main tourist arrival point in northern Sardinia. With its international port and airport, its scenic beauty, history and traditions, it boasts an exceptional tourist offer. In the centre are the medieval Basilica of San Simplicio and the Archaeological Museum, exhibiting artefacts from Nuragic artefacts to Roman warships, and in the hills just outside the city, overlooking the gulf, the archaeological site Nuraghe Riu Mulinu. The city is also the location of major events such as the Giro d'Italia and concerts by internationally renowned artists.

The coastal area of Olbia alternates between beaches and cliffs of incomparable beauty, including Pittulongu, Porto Istana, Le Saline, Li Cuncheddi and Bados.
