The municipality of Podstrana belongs to the Split-Dalmatia County. It is located along the southeastern side of the city of Split, about 7 km from the historic city center, at the foot of the coastal ridge of the Mosor mountain massif (1330 m). It covers an area of 11.5 km/2, from the foot of the Perun mountain along the lower course of the Žrnovnica river in the northwest, to the Mutogras hill in the southeast. The coastal part of Podstrana stretches 6 km longitudinally, with a series of indented pebble bays and beaches.
