Description of accommodation

Casa Natural is the middle accommodation unit of the three small casas on the rural Finca Pino Gordo.
The finca is located above the small village of La Sabinita, at medium altitude in a magnificent rural landscape, away from mass tourism.
A fully equipped, cosy and newly renovated flat awaits you with a spacious living area, a semi-open kitchen and a dining area. The furnishings are in a modern country house style with soft earthy tones, the floors are tiled throughout. A corner sofa with pull-out function for the third guest, a TV area with side display cabinets and a large dining table with bench and armchair by the window complete the ambience. There are books, games and a stereo system for cosy evenings. For colder evenings, warmth is provided in the form of a mobile gas stove or an old cast-iron wood-burning stove.
The semi-open kitchenette is equipped with a kettle and coffee machine, blender, baking utensils, toaster and plenty of crockery and glasses.
Guests are welcomed with a fruit basket, a bottle of sparkling wine and sweets. There is also a starter set with vinegar and oil, salt and pepper, sugar, ground coffee and coffee filters.
Through the wide sliding glass doors you can access the large balcony, which offers a wonderful view of the surrounding landscape and the Atlantic Ocean and is equipped with a dining table with four chairs, two sun loungers with cushions and a parasol.
The cosy bedroom has a 180 cm wide double bed with two mattresses, romantic lighting and offers enough space for clothes and linen in the large built-in wardrobe. The bedroom has a window and curtains to darken the room.
The bathroom is a shower room with window and toilet as well as a large mirror. A set of toiletries is provided for your convenience. Bed linen, towels, kitchen towels and dishcloths are provided and changed weekly in a basket.
A washing machine and tumble dryer are also available in the outside laundry shed, as well as an iron and ironing board.
The chill-out area, where the communal pool is also located, has a large stone barbecue and. Please note that the pool is neither fenced nor supervised, parents are responsible for their children here.
There are sun loungers with cushions by the pool and a large marble table with chairs by the barbecue.
The breathtaking coastal and sea views as well as forest, barranco and mountain views on the other side make the finca a special place for hikers, nature lovers, climbers and / or those seeking relaxation who prefer a special ambience.
The Casa Natural is a strictly non-smoking accommodation. Smoking is allowed outside the Casa, please do not dispose of cigarette butts in the landscape.
We are a dog-friendly accommodation and dogs are also allowed to move freely in the grounds as long as they do not disturb any fellow residents.
The finca used to be a small rural farm with fruit, wine and vegetable cultivation at an altitude of 490 metres above the small village of La Sabinita in the southeast of the island of Tenerife.
The grounds have been left in their original form. Today's orchard was also once a fruit and wine-growing area.
There was a small farmhouse where the three casas now stand and vegetables were grown in today's lower pool garden.
At today's entrance area of the finca stands the eponym of the finca, the very old and protected Pino Gordo.
The paths and dry stone walls were built in the typical island style and from materials typical of the landscape. This has preserved the rustic character of the entire property.
The very special tip in the wonderful summer time on our finca:
On 13 August, provided there is a new moon and no clouds, you can experience one of the most exciting wonders of nature. Around 2 o'clock at night it rains stars. The Perseid shower is a shower of shooting stars and you can experience it more or less all over the world on this night, provided there is a new moon and absolute darkness. Tenerife's national park is one of the most popular places to experience this spectacle.
Our Finca Pino Gordo is the real place to experience this natural wonder, as it is located away from the action and in the dark. If you set up a lounger in the orchard at around 2 a.m. and look up at the sky, you can see the Milky Way opening up and the Perseids raining down. And in between, the meteors, which are easy to locate.
I have personally witnessed this spectacle several times and I felt as if I was the starry-eyed girl from the story and just had to catch the raining stars in an apron. In fact, the stars often only burn up on the ground.
The finca is only 2.3 kilometres from the village of Arico Viejo. There are shopping facilities, a petrol station, medical centre, pharmacy and restaurants with a typical local atmosphere. To Abades to the sea, with its beautiful sandy beach and a diving school, it is 11 km, to El Poris to the sea as well.

Climbing enthusiasts will find a variety of climbing walls and gorges around the small village of ARICO. The Casas Finca Pino Gordo are particularly attractive for climbers of all levels, as just a few kilometres away there are two famous and challenging climbing areas and gorges with heights of up to 35 metres.

El Medano is about a 30-minute drive from Finca Pino Gordo and is home to the island's largest surfing paradise with an international audience. Many world championships have been held here. El Medano is a lively holiday resort and has flat, beautiful sandy beaches and there is almost always a strong wind blowing. Surf schools are lined up here.

In the small holiday resort of Abades, on the straight road down from Finca Pino Gordo, on the Atlantic Ocean, there is a supermarket, a few restaurants and otherwise the place impresses with its beautiful sandy beach and restaurants and bars.
Here is a very popular dive site in a sheltered bay with long reefs, approx. 6-20 metres deep and small caves. In the shallower water, you can even spot turtles in the seagrass meadows.
Two diving schools and three shops with diving equipment offer the opportunity to expand your diving hobby and become a professional.

The municipality of Arico not only impresses with its rural and traditional character, its charming little hamlets with the guachinches and the lovable inhabitants. It also has a huge network of popular hiking and circular hiking trails of all levels of difficulty and for all ages.

Other

Heatable casa (holiday cottage), either with rollable gas heating or electric heating, or wood stove.
In the winter months possibly necessary in the evening. Extra costs of 5 euros per flat per week. The heating is to be booked and paid for on site, depending on the weather conditions.
Casa Natural is the middle unit of the three small casas and was newly renovated in March 2024 and lovingly furnished in a rustic style using solid natural wood. The flat is bright and flooded with light. There is a fully equipped kitchen, semi-open to the dining area, with oven, ceramic hob, fridge and all the kitchen appliances you need. German filter coffee machine, toaster, kettle, mixer available.
The living area has a pull-out corner couch, TV table and glass cabinets. There is a wood-burning stove between the kitchen and dining area. The wood can be booked on site for 10 euros. The bedroom has a twin bed with two 80 cm x 200 cm mattresses, a large built-in wardrobe, bedside tables and a window facing the finca. The terrace is large enough for a dining table with four chairs, sun loungers and parasol.
A third person with sleeping space on the pull-out sofa is included in the accommodation price. Dogs also free of charge.
Safe parking on the finca grounds is free of charge.
WIFI (free) in all three casas.
Use of washing machine plus dryer once per stay also free of charge.
Dogs free of charge, please do not enter the pool and please dispose of excrement.
The finca is closed by an electric sliding gate, please always close after entering.
Note: The finca is rather unsuitable for small children, there is a steeper staircase and an unguarded pool. The entire property is not fenced and is surrounded on one side by a barranco.
