A paradise! Welcome to Casa del Cavallo, an idyllic, charming and unique holiday refuge with roof terrace and sea view pool at Conca dei Marini.
For several years now, Conca dei Marini has been a hot tip. It is idyllic and tranquil here. A little off the beaten track along the coast.
Even owner Sergio could not resist the irresistible charm of the "Conchesi", the inhabitants of Conca. Within two years, he had built this unique holiday retreat, which you can't imagine anywhere else but here.
A narrow ridge juts out into the sea at this point of the "Amalfitana". The winding roads hug the steep, rocky coastline. A few more bends and then we are right in the middle of it - in Sergio's paradise, which has become even more heavenly in 2020 thanks to a small pool (4 m x 2 m) with a view of Capri.
STYLISH LIVING AT CASA DEL CAVALLO
We enter the property through an old wooden door, which takes its name from a magnificent black horse that once grazed below the house. Its beauty and elegance fascinated the owner so much that the house was henceforth called Casa del Cavallo.
A long terrace surrounded by lush green Mediterranean plants stretches out in front of us, with only one view: of the dazzling blue sea. Graceful white chairs are grouped around the solid wooden table. We can literally feel the dolce vita that surrounds this place.
Sergio's irrepressible creativity is also reflected in the interior of the house. With a lot of energy and passion, he has created a unique, appealing ambience over 3 floors from the former, dilapidated farmhouse, which unmistakably bears his stylistic signature.
FIRST FLOOR - The long living room with cosy seating areas and distinctive antique furniture extends into the entrance. A small bathroom is hidden behind a niche with a canapé. A few steps lead through an archway into the dining area. As on the terrace accessible from here, a long, heavy wooden table dominates the room. The antique tiles that adorn the fireplace come from the local Monastero Santa Rosa. It was abandoned many years ago and eventually remodelled for tourist purposes.
We pass through another archway and enter the kitchen. The shelves are stacked with ceramics from Vietri.
1ST FLOOR - A red staircase takes us to the first floor. Here we see two bedrooms (double bed; 2 single beds), both with stunning sea views. There is also an elegant bathroom here.
2nd FLOOR - On the way up, we come across a huge bookshelf. Here we find ourselves in Sergio's studio. From the high domed ceiling, our gaze wanders through the large windows to the seemingly endless sea outside.
From the studio, we step out onto the roof terrace, whose floor is adorned with antique maiolica tiles from the Giustiniani ceramics factory dating back to the 18th century. They once covered the floor of an old church in Amalfi. As we gaze at the graceful coastal formation, the day slowly draws to a close.
Our tour also comes to an end in the 3rd bedroom of the house. Thanks to the floor-to-ceiling window, the room is blessed with a magnificent sea view. A narrow bathroom is located directly behind the double bed. A wooden door at the end of the room leads directly to the front of the house. It is a relic of times gone by, when a horse was housed in this room.
A POOL THAT LOOKS GEN CAPRI - What do you do when a man (!) is trapped in lockdown at Casa del Cavallo'? Quite simple: you make yourself comfortable and get yourself a small, 4 m x 2 m pool. This has been located on the extensive terraced grounds below the holiday home since 2020. From the pool, the view extends across the deep blue sea to the island of Capri.
A vegetable garden was also planted on the newly landscaped areas. Guests of Casa del Cavallo may and should help themselves here to their heart's content and according to their appetite.
PARKING: Parking is available in front of the house, which is located at the end of a cul-de-sac (serpentine path), but cannot be guaranteed as this does not explicitly belong to the house. A covered parking space at the start of the access road, approx. 300 m from the house, can be reserved for a fee.
FURTHER INFORMATION
Food shops, bars and restaurants are located approx. 700 m from Casa del Cavallo. Conca dei Marini is also served by the SITA buses, which provide easy access to the towns of Amalfi, Positano, Ravello and Sorrento. A bus stop is approx. 500 metres away. The nearest beach is approx. 1.5 km away.
In the restaurant Le Bontà del Capo, just a short walk from the holiday home, and from Monday to Saturday, the "Lemon Tour" provides a culinary insight into your holiday region. In pairs or small groups, lemons are first harvested and your own limoncello is made. Afterwards, Fiorenzo Oliveto, who offers the tour, serves a delicious three-course menu based on lemons.

The inside of the house too reflects Sergio's amazing creativity. By putting a lot of work and passion, his heart and soul into restoring the 3 floors of the run-down, former farmhouse, Sergio has succeeded in creating a unique and appealing atmosphere, which clearly bears his signature of style.
GROUND FLOOR - Upon entering, we find ourselves in the long living room with cozy seating areas and appealing, antique furniture. A small bathroom (shower/WC/bidet) lies hidden behind a recess with sofa. We then climb a few steps and pass through an arched doorway into the dining area, which opens onto the terrace. A long, heavy wooden table is positioned in the centre of the room. The antique tiles adorning the fireplace were taken from local Monastero Santa Rosa after it was abandoned many years ago and then redesigned for touristic purposes. Passing through another arched doorway, we enter the kitchen (incl. fridge-freezer, gas stove, oven, dishwasher). The shelves are stacked with Vietri ceramics.

Furnishing of Casa del Cavallo also includes: air conditioning (in the bedrooms) and gas heating (extra charge for both in case of use), fireplace (dining room), WiFi, TV, washing machine, children's bed.
A POOL FACING THE ISLE OF CAPRI - During the 2020 Covid-19 lockdown, Sergio thought about how to make use of the stay-at-home time. He used it to realize a beautiful add-on to Casa del Cavallo on the terraced premises stretching out below the house - a small 4 m x 2 m pool with a view across the deep blue sea and as far as the Isle of Capri.
A vegetable garden was also laid-out on the redesigned premises. From what is growing there, guests staying at Casa del Cavallo may and should pick anything their hearts and stomachs desire.
PARKING: Parking might be available in front of the house, which is located at the end of a cul-de-sac (serpentine road), can however not be guaranteed, as this is not part of the property. A roofed parking space at the beginning of the access road, about 300 m from the house, can be reserved for an extra charge.
