Holidays in the jewel of the Rauris Valley
This is "so real!"
The Rauris Valley at around 950m above sea level is spectacular. There's no need to put over-sized adventure parks in the landscape - this valley, in the middle of the Hohe Tauern National Park, does it all by itself.
Rauris is known as the "secret jewel" of the national park, as evidenced by the following natural features: In addition to lush alpine pastures and glaciers, the centuries-old Rauris primeval forest with protected and award-winning treasures and the Rauriser Urquell spring are also impressive. Over 300 precious springs, imposing waterfalls and freezing cold mountain streams bear witness to the region's abundance of water. In addition to all the natural treasures, there is also real treasure to be unearthed. Gold was mined here until the last century and it is rumoured that up to 120 tonnes of the precious metal still lie dormant in the mountains.
Your hut holiday - really cosy & really charming
You start your day in the Rauris Valley with a view of the famous Sonnblick. The stunning mountain panorama casts a spell over you at the sunny breakfast table and only the gentle ringing of cowbells brings you back to the here & now. That's a good thing, because countless hiking and mountain bike tours await you, for example to the
Stanzalm, Mitterastenalm
Lercheggalm
via the Kolm Saigurn high-altitude hiking trail or to the Niedersachsenhaus
Return to your cosy home
Your charming alpine hut is truly homely. The owners have spared no expense or effort to make this marvellous hut shine for Almliesl guests. The wood dominates here. The creaking wooden floor and the massive ceiling high up to the open gallery create a real ambience. The large tiled stove and the cosy parlour add to the cosiness.
Be inspired by these hut highlights too:
Typical regional wood-fired oven for cooking and heating
Decorated with original Gmundner ceramics
High-quality spice selection for guests
Large, well-tended garden & furnished terrace
Fountain trough with the best Rauris mountain water with drinking water quality
After your extensive day in nature, a relaxed barbecue evening should be on the programme. Depending on your taste, a gas barbecue or a charcoal barbecue are available. You can buy the right barbecue food and lots more tasty treats in "Kathrin's Laden". The owners of the hut run the popular Gasthof Andrelwirt in the valley, around 8 kilometres away. Come by and enjoy the regional specialities.
Tip: The hosts recommend a visit to the "Valley of the Vultures" in Krumltal. The kings of the skies fly their circles here. Don't forget your binoculars.
Note: The open gallery (Juchee) is not sufficiently secured against falls and is therefore not suitable for small children in particular.
