Prades is a town and municipality in the Baix Camp region. The village is also known as the Vila Roja because of the reddish sandstone that characterizes much of its buildings. The Tossal de la Baltasana of 1,201 meters stands out, the highest mountain in the Camp de Tarragona. The Plaza Mayor Fountain, better known as the Prades Fountain, dates from around the 15th and 16th centuries and is in the Renaissance style. About two kilometers from the center of town there is a hermitage dedicated to the Virgen de la Abellera. The building dates from 1570 and in 1578 the bell tower was added. It was completely renovated in the 18th century. In the temple, with a single nave, an image of the Virgin Mary was preserved, which was destroyed in 1936. In 1940, a reproduction was made with marble from Sarral.
