Found in on the outskirts of Chester near the homely suburb of Upton-by-Chester, is this delightful collection of holiday homes, with the end-property being The Hay Barn.
A perfect spot for a couple who need a romantic retreat to the country, but like being within a stone's throw of a bustling city, you can have the best of both worlds.
Enter into the cottage and discover the open-plan living space, complete with a plush sofa with a footstool, a gorgeous spot to snuggle up together on a tranquil evening in. Surprise your partner by cooking up a romantic meal for two in the kitchen, making use of the electric oven and hob at your disposal, you'll be warmed by the underfloor heating as you get creative.
Sit across from your loved one at the dining table and talk over your plans for the rest of the trip.
When it's time to turn into bed, find the lovely bedroom which features a huge super-king-size bed, very inviting at the end of a fun-filled day, with beautiful exposed brick wall and wooden ceiling beams adding bags of character to this renovated barn.
The en-suite bathroom offers a large walk-in shower, so you can come to life in the morning with splash, or rinse off after a long soak in the bubbling hot tub which is located out on the courtyard.
Take your time to meander through the surroundings and see if you can spot some special visitors, the owner of The Hay Barn has published a Children’s bedtime storybook called Fudge’s Evening Adventure, the idea from this story came after the Owners Daughter was treated at Alder Hey Childrens Hospital.
The tale follows Fudge, a miniature dachshund, as she embarks on a quest to find a cozy place to rest her head for the night.
Along the way, she encounters various animal friends on and around the family farm.
A beautiful wooden sculpture trail to accompany the story can be enjoyed by guests, all proceeds from the book will go to Alder Hey Children's Charity, to thank them for their wonderful service, the book is able to be purchased directly from the owner, and so far over £13000 has been raised for this amazing charity.
To add to the wonder there is also a carved animal bug hunt, and guests can watch the wildlife in comfort as wildlife cameras have been set up and can be viewed live in the property.
The animal adventures don’t stop there, as guests will have the opportunity to meet the animals that live onsite, and with ample space and areas for children to play The Hay Barn really is a great choice for animal lovers and families alike.
The surrounding area is great for walks, visiting the wonderful Chester Zoo, or take a trip to the nearby Cheshire Oaks Outlet Village for some excellent shopping.
Note: This property can be booked with Refs. 974556, 974561, 1051835, together sleeping up to 12 people.

The Haybarn was just right for the 2 of us and we enjoyed our stay. The bed was very comfortable and everything was supplied that was needed. The eggs from Olivia’s hens were worth buying and we visited the orchard to follow the trail and took photos to show our grandson to match the book.

Very nicely looked after cottage and grounds, generally to a very high standard. Although I thought both the bed & sofa were past their best for support, but there were plenty of cushions to make it acceptable
