Within six miles lies the boundary of the New Forest, a fascinating and scenic National Park, famous for its wild ponies, deer, pretty villages and quaint inns. An easy drive south takes you to the award winning sandy beaches, great shops, theatres and cinemas at Bournemouth, or travel a short distance north to the historic city of Salisbury, with its stunning cathedral, Wilton House and, of course, Stonehenge. Take a boat trip to Brownsea Island from Poole harbour and visit the wildlife. Also within driving distance are Kingston Lacy Country House, and Max Gate, Thomas Hardy's home.
