This lovely detached house sits in the centre of the village of Barrow Hill.
This is an ideal property for a family holiday.
The dining room at The Old Grocery was once the village grocery store supplying the village with all essential provisions.
Nowadays the room is just perfect for languorous dinners.
The cosy sitting room, with its lovely view of the garden and cosy living flame gas fire, provides lots of space for guests to relax following another exciting day exploring this area.
The three bedrooms offer flexible accommodation whatever the requirements.
Outside the large lawned garden offers an ideal space for the children to run off the last of their energy, or for dining alfresco on a summer's evening.
Children will also enjoy the playing field and children's playground in the village which are only a minute's walk away.
The village is close to the beautiful Chesterfield Canal with great walking on the towpath known as The Cuckoo Way. The Trans-Pennine Trail is also close by and is just the ticket for walkers and cyclists.
Guests can look out for the brass monkey on The Clocktower and it was said that its tail pointed upwards when the Staveley Coal and Iron Company was in profit, and downwards if it made a loss! There are lots of good local walks from the doorstep and with easy access to the Peak District, walkers will be spoilt for choice.
Chesterfield really is a gateway for exploring Derbyshire and the glorious Peak District.
Whether you’d like to visit stately homes, which the county has more than its fair share of, or castles, including the fairytale mansion of Bolsover Castle, this area has it all. It's not all about the superb adventure playground of Britain's first National Park, or the myriad of pretty villages scattered about, or the iconic Chatsworth House and Estate, it is the huge and diverse variety on offer here to suit everybody whatever their age. This is a wonderful holiday property.

Nice big garden great for kids. The owners have provided all those little things you forgot, like dog treats and poop bags, food waste bags, extra toilet rolls. A great place to stay, convenient to most things in derbyshire. And just a lovely house to stay in. Feels like home.

We had a lovely week away staying at The Old Grocery. Beautiful house. Lovely large garden for our dogs to explore. We were greeted with biscuits and wine as it was a special birthday in the family. Lovely walks nearby and not too far to drive to some parts of The Peak District. Highly recommend, will definitely return. Thank you to the lovely host.

Whilst the decor dated, it was in good condition with modern amenities- shower room and kitchen very good.
Due to need to charge electronic devices there was a lack of accessible electric sockets. Perhaps an extension cable would be useful.
