A charming detached, stone-built cottage nestling in the grounds of the owner's non-working farm, just half a mile from the pretty town of Shaftesbury, and surrounded by fields. Converted to a high standard, this cosy property offers well decorated and furnished ground floor accommodation, including a sunny sitting room with dining area offering unsurpassed views down Blackmoor Vale toward Poole and the coast.
Beyond the farm, Shaftesbury itself offers a wealth of interest: the town is renowned for its historic charm, especially the iconic Gold Hill which featured in the Hovis advert.
If you’re a keen walker or birdwatcher, then the surrounding countryside of Dorset is perfect for you. Explore the spectacular chalk hills of Fontmell and Melbury Downs or the carved white horses of the rolling Wiltshire downs. There are historic National Trust properties in abundance such as Stourhead and Kingston Lacy. Further afield you could explore the south coast taking in breathtaking views of the Jurassic Coastline in the Swanage area The perfect get-away-from-it-all retreat.

Built in stone, the cottage has recently been converted to offer accommodation for up to 4 people, all on one level. There is a shared garden that offers fantastic views across the Blackmore Vale and the potential for al fresco dining during the summer months. The owner also owns a private fishing lake which you can use through prior arrangement. This cottage offers a haven in which to get away from it all but, if you are seeking night-life or a restaurant, then Shaftesbury is within easy access. This was a lovely bolt hole in the country and an ideal location for visiting wonderful local landmarks. Great location and beautiful scenery. The only unfortunate thing was that I found it difficult to communicate with the property manager. She greeted us upon arrival, but getting into contact with her afterwards was difficult.
