Palazzo Vinci is located in the heart of Fermo, close to numerous sites of historical, artistic and cultural interest. The historic centre of Fermo is bounded by 14th-century walls from the Sforza era, with gates and towers. The entrance gates still visible are dedicated to Saints Anthony, Catherine and Julian. The heart of the city is the main square, Piazza del Popolo, enclosed between two wide rows of loggias and undoubtedly one of the most evocative places in Fermo. It is home to the Palazzo dei Priori, the seat of the Town Hall, the Pinacoteca and the Piceno Archaeological Museum. The Pinacoteca houses works from the Middle Ages to the 19th century, including works by artists from the Marche region. The Archaeological Museum displays pre-Roman artefacts from Fermo, including belts, urns and jewellery from the Piceno era. Inside the palace is the Sala del Mappamondo (Map of the World), entirely furnished in walnut and containing the library's oldest collection of around 16,000 volumes, mostly dating back to the 16th century and mostly from donations made by Romolo Spezioli, the trusted doctor in Rome of Queen Christina of Sweden. The room houses the Mappamondo, designed by cartographer Silvestro Amanzio Moroncelli, which has a diameter of about two metres and is of excellent quality. Fermo is rich in churches, the most famous of which is undoubtedly the Cathedral, or Cathedral of the Assumption of Mary. It is located in the upper part of the city, near the Diocesan Museum. Inside the Cathedral, you can visit the excavations, including the impressive mosaic of the pagan temple. The whole area has a viewpoint called Belvedere or Piazzale del Grifalco. The Teatro dell'Aquila is one of the largest opera houses in Italy, with a capacity of about 124 boxes and a stage area of 350 square metres. Its ceiling, a tempera by Luigi Cochetti (Rome), a pupil of Minardi, is of great value. It depicts the Numbers of Olympus, with Jupiter, Juno, the Three Graces and the six hours of nocturnal dancing to the song of Apollo.
At the top of the Girfalco hill is the charming town of Fermo, about 6 km from the Adriatic Sea. Fermo is one of the most important and active centres in the region, thanks to its history, business activities and a continuous programme of tourist and cultural events, among the most interesting in the region. Its territory can be divided into two parts: the historical part, which occupies the entire historic centre and extends for several kilometres, is medieval, while the more modern part of the city is emerging outside the centre. The territory is a mix of sea and hills, where it is possible to enjoy wide beaches and stroll among enchanting seaside villages. The province of Fermo is made up of 40 municipalities: Montegiorgio, Smerillo, Porto Sant'Elpidio, Amandola, Pedaso, Moresco, Campofilone, Falerone and many others. The coastline is characterised by long beaches, including the equipped beach of Porto Sant'Elpidio, Porto San Giorgio and Civitanova.
Finally, to thank you for your trust, we will open the doors to the most evocative part of Palazzo Vinci Gigliucci, the Piano Nobile, once inhabited by the patricians of this illustrious family. In this enchanting place, time seems to have stood still; everything has remained as it was in the 19th century, when it was inhabited by Signor Vinci Gigliucci. Frescoes, mirrors and works of great historical value are ready to reveal themselves to your eyes, transporting you to a distant past that you will hardly forget. If you wish to take advantage of one or both of the above options, please inform our operator in advance by e-mail or at the time of booking.
