History
The house was built as a holiday home and mostly used as such. The French builder and architect Etienne Curny sold the house (but without the surrounding meadow, stream and forest) in the 1930s to the Fribourg entrepreneur and National Councillor James Glasson (1878-1952) and his wife Elisabeth (née Rime). The Glasson and von Sonnenfeld families also used the house as a holiday home in the summer months until the end of the 1970s. In 1984, the Freiburg professor Alexander von Zelewsky and his wife Hedi (née Ebner) bought it and also used it initially as a second home, and from 1987 until 2006 as their main residence. Hedi von Zelewsky set up her artist's studio on the top floor, which remained largely unchanged. In 2019, the house was taken over by her daughter Katja and her husband Christoph Flüeler - von Zelewsky and renovated together with the Freiburg architect Cyrill Haymoz. The house is largely in its original condition and underwent only a few adaptations to the time, such as use of the ground floor also as a lounge (50s), central oil heating, connection of dining room and lounge, bathroom on the second floor (all at the beginning of the 80s). As a summer house it had no cellar. The extended balcony west was added in 1987. The connection to the sewage system was made in the 90s.
Renovation
The house is considered to be of architectural historic interest and was added to the list of heritage assets worthy of protection at value B in 2019. The presumed involvement of the well-known architects Boillet & Wulffleff, who left significant works in Freiburg and the surrounding area, could not be confirmed.
Important addition:
The Maison des Fées is a historic house, a listed building. Although technically up-to-date, we would like to point out that certain functional details such as window and door openers, staircase handrails and step heights do not comply with current standards and may be a potential source of danger. These circumstances are known to the tenant. The owner, e-domizil and the Stiftung Ferien im Baudenkmal decline any liability.
