Salomone 8 is a second-floor apartment comprising an entrance hall, a bathroom with shower, a kitchen/living area with 2 single sofa beds, and a loft bedroom furnished with a double bed.
The kitchen also features a small balcony with 2 comfortable chairs and a small table, offering a side sea view.
The location is undeniably charming: a historic building (18th century) situated in the heart of Ortigia, just a few meters from the Duomo, the Arethusa Fountain, and numerous architectural masterpieces spanning different styles and eras.
Tastefully decorated with attention to detail (from the elegant wooden ceilings to the refined terracotta flooring), the apartment also has an elevator.
The apartment has been completely renovated both internally and externally.
The location is very central: a short walk from the Arethusa Fountain and Piazza Duomo, surrounded by numerous restaurants, cafes, and pizzerias.
Approximately 50m away, you will find the small beach of Cala Rossa and the bus stop.
Small grocery stores and other services are available nearby. For those who love relaxation and the sea, Eastern Sicily and the area surrounding Syracuse offer everything one could desire.
Starting from the ancient Greek city and heading south, the best equipped and most beautiful beaches to explore are Minareto, Fanusa, Arenella, and Fontane Bianche, whose name derives from the natural freshwater springs and the particular white color of the sand.
Within the island of Ortigia, you will also find equipped sunbathing areas (Zefiro and Nettuno) and a small free beach called Cala Rossa.
Traveling further south, about 30 km away, we find beautiful, unspoiled, and rugged beaches, including Calamosche, Vendicari with its Wildlife Oasis, and the beautiful San Lorenzo.
For culture enthusiasts, be sure to visit the Greek Theatre of Syracuse and the entire archaeological park with the Ear of Dionysius, a cave carved into the limestone in the shape of a human ear, the Paolo Orsi museum, and the Latomie dei Cappuccini, as well as Ortigia itself with its historical, cultural, and scenic beauty.
Do not overlook Noto, the seafront with the tuna fishery of Avola, and finally the seaside village of Marzamemi.
In short, Sicily is a land to be explored, and its natural and cultural beauties are treasures to behold.
Catania Fontanarossa Airport is about 60 km away, while Comiso Pio La Torre Airport is 110 km away. Syracuse train station is 1 km from Ortigia, as is the intercity bus station connected to the airports.

L'emplacement

A really nice place to stay, which we really do recommend! I just would have liked a few adjustments like available spices for cooking (maybe not available anymore due to Covid), some washing detergent and a working hair dryer. But anyways… great place, best spot in the old town to stay, great hosts, come here and see for yourself :)

Very nice location and apartment. The only two things to improve is to have a heater for cold days and to improve the cleaning. Besides that it’s an amazing place to stay. Close to the small beach, restaurants and bars. In the center of ortigia and still peaceful.
